Spanish Classes Celebrates National Hispanic Heritage Month!
This is a month dedicated to honor the culture, traditions and extraordinary contributions of Americans who trace their roots to Spain, Mexico and the Spanish-speaking nations of Central America, South American and the Carribean.
Mrs. Augustus is teaching her students about Hispanic countries, notable Hispanics, Hispanic news, food, and music. Enjoy these pictures from the following fun activities:
Students in Spanish 1 were assigned a Hispanic country to do research and present in class.
Students in Spanish 2 were assigned an American-Hispanic person to do research on and present in class.
Spanish 3 and 4 students are doing a music bracket by country and listening to a couple of songs each day and voting for their favorite until we get a winner.
Students in Spanish 3 went to Abuelas, a Venezuelan restaurant in Urbana that opened recently. The food was delicious and we got to hear the owner’s story in Spanish!
Our students worked to create papel picado, a traditional decoration in Mexico
