Student Chaplain Jason Channels - CALLING

“Jonah thought he knew better than God. But in the end, he learned a valuable lesson about the Lord's mercy and forgiveness, which extends beyond Jonah and Israel to all people who repent and believe. Is there some area of your life in which you are defying God, and rationalizing it? Remember that God wants you to be open and honest with him. It's always wise to obey the One who loves you most.”

“What we can’t do, is disobey God.“ Even though we are imperfect, there is no justification for disobeying God.

“When you feel God has called you to do something specific. Do not run away!“

Reflection and Prayer: 10 minutes

  • What do you think your calling is?

    • How can the Lord use you for his glory?

  • Our biblical heroes are not perfect. Only Jesus is perfect.

    • List a few biblical heroes who failed and how they failed.

    • Is your heart in the right place with your calling? Are you pursuing it out of a sense of duty or with passion?

  • Is there a time when God has called you to do something and it made you uncomfortable, nervous, or scared?

    • If you did do it, did it end up working out in the end for God’s purpose and to accomplish God’s mission?
