Devotions - KEEP YOUR HEART

“Keep your heart with all vigilance, for from it flow the springs of life.”

PROVERBS 4:23

Thorn, Joe. Note to Self (Foreword by Sam Storms) (p. 97). Crossway. Kindle Edition.

Self-Reflection:

Read Luke 6:45, “The good man brings good things out of the good stored up in his heart, and the evil man brings evil things out of the evil stored up in his heart. For out of the overflow of his heart his mouth speaks.”

  • What is the overflow of your heart when you are stressed, or when no one is looking?

  • When you are alone, what does your behavior and attitude say about your heart?

  • Take a few minutes to sit quietly before the Lord. Ask him to search your heart and to show you the condition of your heart.

  • Pray, asking the Lord to transform your heart and to make you new this day.

  • Joe Thorn says, “To keep your heart means that your focus and work is on maintaining communion with God and pursuing the transformation that only God can accomplish in you.”

  • What does it mean to pursue transformation from God? How does that play out?

Thank you,

Pastor John
