Dear ECA Families,

We would like to express our sincere appreciation for a wonderful start back to school after Christmas break. We hope that each of you had some time with your family and an opportunity to reboot for 2023! The purpose of this communication is to cover some upcoming needs and highlights as we dig into the second semester.

URGENT STAFF AND FACULTY NEEDS

  • In search of a sub to finish the year for our 3rd/4th grade Math position that will begin in March. Congratulations to Mrs. Brittan and her husband! They are expecting their first child in March. We would like for the prospective sub to spend several weeks in the classroom with Mrs. Brittan to get acquainted with the students and procedures.

  • Subs needed for: Teachers, Aides, and Kitchen needed. Paid training is provided.

  • Intervention Specialist: For this school year and moving into the next school year.

  • Be on the lookout for re-enrollment information in February for the 2023-2024 school year!

  • New Admissions Open House is February 14th from 6:30PM - 8:00PM. Please spread the word and direct new families to Lynne Willis by calling the school or by email at lwillis@ecaoh.com.

PARENTS NEEDED FOR PARENT COUNCIL

  • Would you be interested in serving on the Parent Council? We are gearing up for the Student Handbook Reviews. The council makes recommendations and provides feedback to the Administration on Policy and Policy Proposals. We remotely meet 1 or 2 times a year or as needed. Please get in touch with John Essig at jessig@ecaoh.com for additional information or to volunteer.

Upcoming Important dates/important events

  • January 16: No School - Martin Luther King, Jr. Day

  • Parent Teacher Conferences: February 14th/16th. Stay tuned for more information.

  • College Credit Plus: The deadline to apply for College Credit Plus funding is April 1st at 5:00PM. If you are interested in your child taking college classes next year, please contact Alicia Kidder at akidder@ecaoh.com.

  • Spiritual Emphasis Week (March 20-24) will feature the Northridge Vineyard Worship Team and pastors. A Wednesday Family Worship night will be held at Northridge Vineyard. Make plans to fully participate.

new course offerings for the 2023/24 school year!

  • Mathematics Modeling and Reasoning: This course is designed to promote reasoning, problem-solving and modeling through thematic units focused on mathematical practices while reinforcing and extending content in Number and Quantity, Algebra, Functions, Statistics and Probability, and Geometry. It is a yearlong course taught using student-centered pedagogy. Students make take this course as an alternative to Algebra II or as their fourth math credit. (Full Year).

  • MGT 1060: Organizational Behavior: Theories, concepts, and applications of organizational behavior as it relates to individuals, groups, and organizations in today’s global business environment. Conceptual frameworks, case discussions, and skill-oriented activities. Personality, assessment of self, motivation, stress, job success, ethics, conflict resolution, managing change, group behavior, team problem solving and decision making, interpersonal and organization communication (First Semester).

    • Class is offered through Clark State College and will be taught by Coach Moore.

    • Students must be enrolled in College Credit Plus or self pay for the course.

    • Pre/Corequisite(s): ENG1111

  • RISE UP Industry Credentials: RISE UP is the NRF Foundation training and credentialing program that provides foundational employability skills in retail. By successfully passing the exams, students will earn two industry credentials: The Retail Industry Fundamentals Specialist and the Customer Service and Sales Certified Specialist. The students will also earn the Ohio Means Jobs Readiness Seal. This class will help students who would like to earn the Industry Credential and Ohio Means Jobs Readiness Seals. (First Semester)

  • Life Calling: This course focuses on students developing an understanding of the concept of life calling and the discovery of one’s God-given design as a basis for this calling. Students are led to understand how work and individual leadership is best understood from this life calling perspective. Students will evaluate their foundational values, unique design and personal mission as well as examine each components in an in-depth, integrated portfolio. (Second Semester)
