But if you contextualize too much, no one’s life will be transformed because you won’t be challenging their deepest assumptions and calling them to change.”

    • What do you think Tullian Tchividjian meant by contextualization?

    • What does a balanced approach look like?

    • Read Colossians 4:6, “Let your conversation be always full of grace, seasoned with salt, so that you may know how to answer everyone.”

    • The Urban Dictionary defines “salty” as being “upset, angry, or bitter.” Paul was promoting the exact opposite kind of conversation. Back then, salt kept food from spoiling. The Expositor’s Greek also says salt “expressed the wit with which conversation was flavored.”

      • Write a 2-3 sentence definition of what it means to be “the salt of the earth”.

Part 3 – Prayer: 3 minutes

  • Create a list of family members, friends, and acquaintances who you think are missing out on a personal relationship with Jesus.

  • Pray for each person on your list. Ask the Lord to give you an opportunity to “be the salt of the earth” for each of them.

    • Many people argue over “pro-life” or “pro-choice”, and the two sides will never see eye to eye, but what we should be concerned about is being pro-mom. Abortion is profoundly anti-women. Many women choose abortion because they feel isolated and unsupported, and think they have no other choice. Even worse, many in the pro-life movement give off the impression that only the life of the baby matters. Apathy, violence, anger, and shunning the pregnant are not answers to the problem. Instead, Christians should show love and support to women in need.

    • What does it mean to be “Pro Mom”? How does it differ from being Pro Life or Pro Choice?

Chapel Series - PRAYER Day 3

One of the main reasons why people walk away from their faith is that it seems as though God isn’t answering their prayers. God cares more about growing us than sparing us pain. Even Jesus had to suffer and submit His will to the Father. God will give us everything we ask in Jesus’ name—that is, according to His will. We can take heart that we are praying to the one who gave His life for us.
